EAS systems can be used to increase open merchandising opportunities while reducing shoplifting and internal theft. Sensormatic EAS systems use one or more pedestals or antennas configured to create a surveillance zone at exits or checkout lanes. Tags or labels would be placed on the merchandise and they would need to be either removed or deactivated before leaving the store. If shoplifting occurs, the pedestals at the entrance would go into alarm alerting you of the theft.
